Summer dressing

There's nothing easier than throwing a pretty dress on and going out to enjoy the sun.

Why do we need to replace black?

There was pink, red, white, and I'm sure at one point in fashion history every color was hailed as the new black. Why was there a need to replace black in the first place?

Perhaps it's so intimidating to every other color. I mean, who else can slim you down, make you feel confident, sexy and sassy but also mysterious, misunderstood and artsy? Black is masculine and strong but it can be as dreamy as a night sky. Depending on the styling, black is always in season and always a statement...in its understated ways.

Which is why I don't want to replace black. Not even with my beloved grey.

Grandpa chic

Some kind of cool autumn outfit

Thanks to this shirt and cardigan combo I will look like a professor's assistant. Just the look I was going for. Anyway, this is my dream outfit: the soft pinks in the shirt, necklace and trousers is just up my street and that cardigan is the most versatile thing I have which is a good thing since I got it with my own money and if I put something on ebay again which I haven't worn once I'm starting a shopping ban. It's that out of hand.

Dainty paint pots

Summer is the best time to get creative with your nails. More so than in any season, summer nail polishes rise to the status of accessories. I won't go as far as saying that the sartorial impact they make is crucial but if you can have fun with one more aspect of your look, why not jump on that bandwagon and try yourself some of my favourite nail polishes?

Ode to Daffodils

That's right, I keep all this random stuff in my bike basket.
As a variation of the spring flatlay, I decided to switch it up and do an outdoorsy shoot of some of my recent favorites, one of which is this month's Conde Nast Traveller magazine.

I've been craving to be a tourist again for a while and this is just what the doctor ordered when you feel like you need to escape that dreaded routine.

I had a little (big, actually) shopping spree after my mocks and did some damage in & Other stories with this colour-of-the-year nail polish in 'Ecarlate Pink', a stretchy blue bracelet and a Lara Melchior ring and long necklace.

These hedgehog stuff-s are from Blott in Cambridge, the best stationary shop for hedgehog enthusiasts.
Find HERE.

This wallet from Bimba y Lola I shall call my baby...I have been looking for one for ages and this is in neoprene so it's easy to clean but also looks classy!

Finally, my favorite Lush product as of January is the Blackberry Bath Bomb which I cannot get enough of: it smells of sweet, floral purple, that's the best I can describe it as ^.^
Find it HERE.

Have a lovely start to spring!

Royal Academy Daumier exhibition

Excuse the very bad exposure of these photos; they were taken with my phone in shade...not the best I have to say.

This was some time back in October/November and the weather permitted my wearing the extremely mini tartan skirt from actual Scotland (that I shortened...oops) -similar HERE- with a slouchy Benetton jumper, Uniqlo men's sheepskin coat -only instore- and my beloved & Other Stories Bag -in black HERE. All items are linked, so click on them if you're interested.

The Royal Academy is always a good trip out - an obligatory stop at Laduree to sample the new collection, hot chocolate from next to the Le Meridien and off course ART! This time was the turn of French 19th century cartoonist Daumier. I loved the way the exhibition was set up but I wasn't completely won over by the actual exhibits...maybe next time!

What interesting exhibitions have you been to recently, I'm looking for inspiration ^.^

Bursting the Tea's Bubble

I'm keeping this post short and sweet since it's past midnight and I now have a fear of darkness and space thanks to 'Gravity' (if you see it in 3D you will basically die in the first 10 minutes).

A good few weeks ago I visited Shoreditch for the first time and was pleasantly surprised, although the tube ride was a bit of a hike. Nice markets (comparable to Notting Hill), great for music 'explorers' on the hunt for bands and genres you have never heard of and my first bubble tea experience at Milk Tea & Pearl. I definitely recommend the blossom tea with lychee beads things, although to this day I can't quite explain the concept of bubble tea.

Lunch at the Drunken Monkey

Creepy or not? I can't decide...

Remember THE bag? Took it 'for a ride' :)

Bag heaven

Yes, this typically Made in Chelsea fence shot is here to artistically announce the coming of fall on Le periple.
I'm very excited. Autumn is my favorite season, with the cosy (flaw-covering) knitwear, comfy boots and my beloved scarfs. See, bags don't seem to creep onto my list. Not because I don't love them, definitely not, but because I only have a few basics - black shopper for winter, beige shopper for summer, a red rucksack and a small navy messenger bag.

This is all about to change. I'm sorry bank account but I need some bag personality to be going on. And I think I'm already on track with my new & Other Stories metallic bag. I love it so much, it's the perfect mix of colour and wearablity, of daytime cool and night-time sleek and those 3 compartments... the dream of an organisation freak like me!

Find the bag HERE.
